Day 6.179: Five go to London
Here's some of what he did and saw - I'm guessing it doesn't need much explanation - which is just as well because it's late and I'm completely tired out!

Day 6.178: Whose birthday is it anyway?
The answer is Exile #2 - but nobody seems to have told E5N1!
We had a good day - started with a 15 mile run (just me!), church, dinner at a hotel restaurant, GF birthday cake, saying goodbye to Exile #2's brother and sister-in-law, a trip to the playground and now we're preparing for another busy day tomorrow.

Day 6.177: Carnival!
Did we ask for a taste of England?
Terrace of old cottages - check!
Bunting - check!
Morris dancers (including cute little boy and the hitting of sticks) - check!
Cross-dressing - check!
Silliness as political commentary - check!
Wallace and Gromit - check!
Richard Branson - check!
Not that it was all necessarily quintessentially British.
It was a beautiful summer day - making Santa's summer holiday believable, the water squirting welcome and the whole village carnival a huge success.
It was also a great day for us!

Day 6.176: Dinner and a bounce
We said goodbye to my sister and family this morning and travelled first to Birmingham to meet a friend of Exile #2 who is a year and a half on from moving from the Capital Region to the UK - fascinating to hear the reverse of our story playing out in many ways.
From there it was down to Oxfordshire where we are staying with Exile #2's parents. Her brother and his wife are here too and we all went to a local pub for dinner.
E5N1 was excited to find a bouncy-castle (as they call them over here!) and enthusiastically threw himself around whenever someone was willing to accompany him. Eventually, while we were hanging around after the group photo, the girls were inspired to join him.
Not something I'd be tempted to do after a big meal, but they didn't seem to suffer any ill-effects!

Day 6.175: Ramble-on!
We were all a little weary after our exertions yesterday. I supplemented my weariness with a 10 mile run before breakfast.
Nevertheless, we managed to get out for a fairly short and fairly gentle hike in Dimmingsdale.
The sun even shone on us.
Here we all are:
And here are some of the other things we saw:
Tomorrow is time to move on again!
