Day 1.028: Heavy weather
Here is Exile #3 waiting for the school bus this morning. As you can see we had a coating of snow in the night. What you can't see is the layer of ice underneath from the freezing rain we had yesterday evening. What you can also see in the background is the demise of a little tree.
Freezing rain still seems really extraordinary to me - while it's falling it's rain, as soon as it touches anything it turns to ice. Weird. Unlike snow it is also heavy and this morning all the trees and cables were looking very weighed down. If we have a significant fall it tends to bring down branches from trees and threatens power-lines. Today we saw no real damage and it did look pretty.
The tree had really mostly collapsed while were in the UK over Christmas and the New Year. I like to think that it was this pretty killer that did for it.
