Day 1.328: Recession hits kids hardest

...but E5N1 doesn't seem to mind his new living quarters.

Today I had to investigate yet another tax form in order to justify that the girls really are dependants of mine even though they are not actually US citizens. The form proper is a single page but comes with a further seven pages of bewildering rules and exceptions to and exemptions from the rules.

I was amused to see at the bottom of page one of this forest-destroying mound of paper, "For Paperwork Reduction Act Notice see page 4." I eventually found the relevant (but incomprehensible) paragraphs at the bottom of page 5 - it looks like someone's been failing to reduce their paperwork.

E5N1 is of course a real person and therefore the IRS does believe that he counts as a dependent. In the light of that, I suppose we should take his cot (crib) off eBay and and let him sleep in it again tonight.
