Day 4.141: Uninteresting numbers?
There is a kind of mathematical joke by way of a proof that there are no uninteresting numbers. The logic goes, "Imagine that there are indeed some uninteresting numbers. Now, one of those numbers would be the smallest uninteresting number - which would mean that it was interesting - therefore there cannot be any uninteresting numbers.
Now since, the one thing I always have as I sit down to write my daily blog post is a number, I have, on more than one occasion, used the number as a launching point for a slow-news-day post. Saturday was no exception - but I was making a serious point. If you start off with numbers and look for ways to make them interesting without defining a set of rules in advance, you can get pretty much any answer you want.
