Day 4.327: LEGO KidsFest

Thanks to a tip-off at Albany Kid, we were all up before dawn to drive to Hartford CT for the LEGO KidsFest - described as a giant Lego expo on tour.

We had a great time.  There were the giant models (including a lot of giant Lego people made out of Lego - I somehow managed to fail to get a decent picture of them):

Plenty of opportunity to get involved in really well organised events and projects.  Exile #4 and E5N1 took part in a relay race, Exile #3, Exile #4 and I made a plane for the cityscape and found an airport to put it in, Exile #2 made a clown face and the kids ended our session by arranging the Cars cars in formation as the crowds were departing:

but our finest moment was probably our little model of The Egg which they then placed as close to Albany as they could get it (somewhere in West Virginia I think!) - just like the real USA, the Northeast was quite densely populated.

Here's a couple of details from the many models around the place.  The top one has a little guy on the balcony with a camera on a stand pointing at his face - and then a giant display showing the 'video feed'.

E5N1 did get a bit tired at times(!), but at the end despite wanting to sit down for a while with a Lego Harry Potter book, he was still going strong:

as were the girls:

Tellingly, as we were waking out, I heard at least two conversations as well as the one I had with Exile #4 in which the adult was saying words to the effect of, "They're not always here, they use the place for lots of different kinds of exhibitions..."

Until next year then!
