Day 3.205: Land of her fathers

After the kids were in bed and settled last night, we fled across the border into Wales, leaving Exile #2's parents to deal with them for a night and a day.  We spent the night in a very pleasant no-nonsense roadside hotel.  This was the internet connectivity offered (to be fair there was pay-to-use internet on the TV and a 'terminal' in the lobby).  Unfortunately, I haven't had a dial-up number at my disposal since 2005, so I'm glad I'd hurriedly written and set yesterday's post to publish itself.

This morning we had a civilised child-free breakfast and completed our short drive to see one of several good friends that we have not seen at all since our US adventure started.  We had a great day. It was great to catch up on lost time. Exile #2 was taken back to her youth by seeing small-town Wales in the rain and I was amused by the ubiquitous Welsh-language translations for a variety of reasons. Someone in a shop/siop even said 'ta-ra' to us as we left.

Here is our day in pictures!

It was raining when we visited Cardiff Bay...

but it was only a light drizzle.

No sign of Torchwood - the perception filter must still be working fine I suppose.

It was raining even harder when we took the dog for a walk in the woods.

Late lunch in the pub - fish and chips in newspaper and curry with chips.  Great!

On the language front, we spotted these:

And these (I took it for Tomos and Pyrci and only noticed Bob y Bildar - Trwmped Bob later):

And now we're safely back in the land of my fathers.

  1. You didn't go for the Cardiff classic, "curry half 'n half" then?! Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

  2. If I understand the concept correctly - that's exactly what Exile #2 had - see the left side of the food picture - although these were rather gourmet bar snacks!
