Day 5.239: School's ouch

This morning we got all three of the kids ready to travel on the bus together for their first day of the new school year.

Two of the kids made it onto the school bus unscathed. E5N1 also caught the bus - but slightly subdued after being stung by an aggressive wasp or bee at the stop.

Two of the kids made it home on the school bus at the end of the day. Exile #3 had been sent home early having been taken ill while eating her lunch - she seems fine now.

Hopefully things will go smoother as the week and the year continue!

Day 5.238: Ooms at Sutherland Pond

The second location on our Labor Day/Anniversary day out yesterday was to the wonderfully named, "Ooms Conservation Area at Sutherland Pond".

It's a fairly small, but well kept and rather beautiful preserve near Chatham NY.

The highlight for the kids was trying out their butterfly/fishing nets that they were given at the wedding.  They were more successful in the water - where they caught (temporarily) frogs, small fish, huge bullfrog tadpoles and some water beetles.

It turned what would in any case have been a nice hike into a big hit for them.

Day 5.237: Eighteen today!

...our marriage that is.

We had a lovely family day out today. Perhaps I'll write about it tomorrow.

For now you can amuse yourselves with this: how we looked on a slightly rainy September 3rd in 1994.

Life has had its ups and downs over the years of course, but I have never regretted that day for a moment.

Day 5.236: A wedding is a terrible way to start a marriage!

That was the sentiment expressed by our friend about three weeks ago.

Yesterday we were present at the wedding that she had been so stressed about and let me tell you - her stress beforehand not withstanding - that this wedding was a wonderful way to start a marriage.

We wish them every joy and happiness for many many years ahead.

Day 5.235: Wedding - party

Our friends got married today - yay!

The kids all played their parts well and we have all been enjoying the party all day.
