Day 6.272: E5N1 and the magic corn dog
Here are some beautiful water-drop covered things from our trip to Five Rivers:
And now, on to the poor discarded corn dog:
Of course it wasn't really a corn dog. As Betsy correctly identified, it was a cattail (bulrush). This is the moment when E5N1 first spotted it:
amongst other things, he decided it granted him the power of flight:
and as a result I referred to it as "the magic corn dog" - to which he always replied, "No! It's a cattail!"
This also happened:
Which obviously brought this to mind:
Every day is an adventure!

Day 6.271: A snake, in the grass...
Here's a snake (and some more traditional sights of autumn) from our walk at Five Rivers on Sunday:
Actually, we have no idea what the fruit on the top right are - do you?
And talking of inexplicable sights...
...what's that in the grass? Could it be a discarded corn dog?

Day 6.270: No tornado, but look to the skies!
We were under a tornado watch for most of the day. In the end a powerful front came through with some pretty dramatic weather for a few minutes - but no tornadoes and only a few claps of thunder.
A couple of hours later as the sun went down, the sky in the west turned an amazing shade of gold and in the east...
People were standing around staring (and probably taking much better photos than I did with my iPhone) because it was so extraordinary.

Day 6.269: Fall - catch - and relax!
After a chore-filled day yesterday, we filled today with - my last fairly-long run before the marathon next Sunday, a trip to church (including collecting Exile #3 from her middle-school group lock-in (sleepover) and a visit to Five Rivers (without play-dating Exile #4) where a very important event occurred:
The first leaf-catch of fall!
Later followed by numbers two and three:
So now I can relax and enjoy the rest of the season.
