Day 3.149: Green (and grey) Day

It was 'Field Day' for the girls today - a team-based mildly-competitive take on a 'Sports Day' as far as I can work out. The teams were divided in advance across the whole school and given a specific colour of shirt to wear. Green was not an obvious colour for Exile #4, but she had this one top in her wardrobe. Exile #3 was in the 'gray' team which completely baffled us until we realised that she was probably skinny enough to wear one of her brother's shirts. Sure enough.

This evening ,Exile #2 and I took a break from chores to play some Green Day Rock Band - which arrived on its release day today from Amazon. It's the second Rock Band game to allow vocal harmonies (the first was Beatles Rock Band) which was a big selling point. I thrashed through some songs on guitar this evening giving Exile #2 the odd backing vocal (as usual her main vocals were virtually perfect). She reminded me that we had covered a Green Day song (using actual instruments) at one of the last real gigs we did - at St George's Hospital Medical School in London in 1994 or 1995 - which, since it was fifteen years ago, is a reminder that they've been around for a while - even though they still look, act and angst like teenagers!

  1. I hadn't realised Green Day were still around! Mind you, I found myself playing Smoke on the Water with J the other day. He may may not quite have the timing down yet, but he was certainly enthusiastic on the drums. That's my boy!
