Day 3.234: Fluming great!

Today's story starts yesterday at around 10am when I saw this email from Exile #2:
Nooooo - the splashing park is closed for the season....
Aargh
I gathered that their plans to cool off in the middle of this late summer heatwave at the local outdoor pool had been derailed by a pre-Labor Day closure.  However, at that moment I also remembered that Albaniana had mentioned a planned trip to Zoom Flume water park that day - so a plan was born to take a day off, follow in their footsteps* and cool off on a very hot day with the whole family in the Catskills.

And today, that's just what we did:

Pictured (clockwise from bottom left):
  • Relaxing in the wave pool
  • Exile #3 splashing out of the Mighty Anaconda flume.
  • All of us except Exile #2 taking a final ride down the Wild River (we had all ridden together on four previous occasions.
  • Waiting for the waves (they run about half the time) - Every time I looked at the clock I saw "Wash Cycle"!
  • The sun going down in the Catskills - and a weary-looking lifeguard.
  • Ready to ride!
  • The Canyon Plunge - the only ride that Exile #3 did not conquer.  I did.  Twice.  It's very steep!
Not pictured:
  • A huge amount of other fun including some surprising acts of fearlessness from the whole party.
We were there for the whole day (10am to 6pm) - getting our money's worth and feeling like it was good value despite the failure of the online voucher system which would have saved us $10 I think.  The place has a really nice family feel - like Hoffman's rather than slick like Disney but everything was nicely laid out, clean and in good condition and the young staff were ubiquitous and mostly had a smile as they helped us all to enjoy ourselves.

* UPDATE: Also (unconsciously) in their punning footsteps. Sorry and thanks!
