Day 2.060: Ice and snow

This afternoon I had the unexpected pleasure of picking the girls up from school - unfortunately because Exile #2 had a migraine. Later I took them to their skating lessons - they did quite well despite these nonplussed looks.

Earlier I caught what is the end of the snow that has been with us to greater or lesser extents since before Christmas. If we have any more (and snow-storms in May are not unheard-of), it will be a fresh batch making its way unassisted in the world.

Day 2.059: On the head, son!

Three images of 'The Egg' (I know a few of you were wondering). On Saturday, we saw a free play by a local theatre company at the smaller of two auditoria inside. It doesn't look like an egg (except if you get this view) Incidentally, I understand that the 'Sign of the Tree' is a restaurant. I don't know if it looks like a tree or a sign unfortunately.

Day 2.058: How should I know?

As I was last year, I am caught up with wondering when the snow will all be gone from our yard. Exile #4 has continued to enjoy playing in the snow as it has receded (mouse-over to share in the snow-castle fun). Now every day feels like we might see the last of it. For most of last night and today it rained fairly hard. There was a brief break from the rain for a couple of hours late in the morning - during that time it snowed hard and the world turned white again for a few hours. It's all quite a change from our sunny walk yesterday.

Talking of which, Exile #2 read yesterday's post to Exile #3 who asked, "How does he know he's sometimes annoying?" Let's call it a lucky guess.

Camera 1 (Exile #3)

Daddy let me use his little camera today. He's not so uptight about it since he got his new big camera. He still made me listen to lots of rules about using it. I took lots of pictures. Some of them are really good, but Daddy will use some he wants for this post because really he is writing all this and pretending it's me.

Here is my little sister running towards the bridge. She is excited about the bridge because when we get there it is her turn to have the camera on the way back to the car.

Here is Daddy. Although he is a bit annoying sometimes he's mostly OK.

Camera 2 (the_exile)

To head-off a potential meltdown at the beginning of our walk this morning, I let Exile #3 take the little camera on our walk.

She snapped away for the out-bound leg - taking about 100 pictures in 35 minutes. It's a different world from when I used to avoid using 36 exposure films because they would last so long I would forget what the early photos were by the time I got them developed.

Exile #4 took over the camera at the point we turned back towards the car, but she took about 10 pictures and then decided she'd had enough. Since I was carrying E5N1 on the way back (he walked the other half), there was a whole lot less photography going on, still our total yield was 215 pictures / 1.3 Gigabytes. I promise to recycle them all properly when we're done.

Day 2.056: Expo? Sure!

We spent a good part of the day at the Hannaford Kidz Expo (no really). As well as trade-show like stalls with raffles, give-aways and promotional materials for every business in the area with a connection to kids or parents, there were various activities and shows being provided. We saw a short play and met a fairy queen and this puppet show. All the family apart from me are in this picture. E5N1 got very excited by the musical numbers - especially the drumming puppets:

But seemed confused about how to go about high-fiving the puppet bird afterwards.

Honestly, it was not really my favourite way to spend a day, but the kids (or should I say kidz?) had fun and we managed to escape for some time in the open-air when I got completely stir-crazy.
