After a church party yesterday, we had a no-church party today (well, more accurately, we missed church to go to a party). This was mostly for Exile #4's benefit as it was the 4th birthday party of one of her classmates (and one of her two best friends). In fact Exile #3 used to see her in the afternoons at school last year so it was nice for both of them. As well as pizza, cake and friends, it was another chance to visit the Children's Museum in Saratoga Springs which is a fantastic place.
I enjoyed playing music in the bandstand where detectors (for different instruments) sense the height of your hand (or your son) if held in the right place and plays a note: higher-hand - higher-note. Music-geek-cool.
The girls enjoyed pretty much everything - shopping in a old fashioned grocery store, making and serving food at the diner, sliding down a firemen's pole, driving the trolley (which became a train at some point) to and from NYC and Boston (for unknown reasons).
Exile #3 and I loved doing the scavenger hunts - so much simpler and age-appropriate than the ones in most museums, they have just laminated some photos of details from around the museum and you take a set of about 8 of these and go and find the objects that were photographed. Here she is with one of her discoveries.
