There'll be no end to winter, or so it feels at times. Today's weather was extraordinarily changeable. From snow melting sunshine to sudden squalls as snow came down heavily and was blown almost horizontally by the strong gusts of wind. Twice I looked out of the window and could barely see the next building a few hundred yards away because of the amount of snow in the air. Each time within 30 minutes, the air was clear and the sky was blue.
Tomorrow, the temperature is going to drop so decisively that the maximum temperature for the day is expected at the stroke of midnight. By the time we are getting up it will be close to 0°F again and feeling well below that with the wind-chill.
Today we toured the hospital where we are planning for Exile #5/Native #1 to be born. Another "so similar and yet so different" experience. No gas and air for pain relief, no food during labour in the hospital and a probable 48 hour stay are the down-side highlights, good differences include a maximum of two mums & babies in a room together (after the birth) so hopefully not too much of one newborn setting all the others off during the night. The best thing about the tour was that we were both able to go, the girls spent an evening with a mother and teenage daughter from our church and homegroup. Although they were very tired when we arrived to take them home, they had obviously had a great time so we are all very thankful.
Snowman update: he toughed out the squalls well and is still standing.
Pop pun #4 for title watchers, not that the snow is going to be melting and making things wet for the next couple of days - upon that fact you can depend.
Just make sure you wear your gloves in all that snow, otherwise you'll certainly be *feeling it in your fingers*, and in your toes.
