Day 1.358: Tall-mart
Although several people we know here consider this part of the world to be very crowded. We still have enough memory of most of our adult lives spent in Oxford and Cambridge to feel that it is very spacious indeed. As a result, most of the large stores here are huge single-storey boxes, with multiple floors reserved only for the big malls.
One local exception is this Walmart where they have installed a nifty contraption to make multi-storey shopping as convenient as possible - a shopping trolley escalator. You just push it on and then ride up or down the standard escalator alongside it and collect your shopping at the other end.

ReplyDeleteWe're still in the midst of it of course - although E5N1 has now moved on to picking up his sisters' toothbrushes and walking purposefully towards the toilet...
