'Kill' means creek or stream - it's Dutch you know.
Fresh (as long as we're talking about something long-life that is still fresh after fifty days) from our first visit to a property owned by the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy, we tried another one this morning. We didn't have long, but didn't need it to do the short (approx 1 mile) woodland circular walk at Phillipinkill Preserve. There are two reserved parking places for visitors outside the neighbouring apartment building - to say that this not the classic wilderness trail-head would be something of an understatement.
The walk was great - sunlight was filtering through the trees and we saw plenty of interesting plants and heard a variety of animals. It may suffer by comparison and proximity to our 'second home' of Five Rivers, but it is a very pleasant gentle walk in the woods.
By the way, the eponymous creek was visible for a good part of the walk, but there was little chance or temptation to fall in it.
A good part of the rest of the day was spent preparing for a potluck dinner at church which, apart from seriously undermining my diet, was a great evening all round.
