Not my sisters on this occasion, but sisters E & C who came over to babysit Exile #4 and E5N1 (Exile #3 is away on a sleepover birthday party) so that we could take advantage of the offer of some tickets to see The Sisters Rosensweig at the Capital Rep this evening.
Funnily enough, the play is about Americans in the UK - something that in some ways mirrors our experience. However, in other respects we were completely adrift as the most of the audience erupted in laughter a couple of times leaving us wondering what we missed. Whether they were US/NYC or Jewish references, I'm not sure - maybe a combination of both?
The theatre is rather lovely, the leading cast were great, the play is, for the most part, very believable, engaging and often funny (even to the British Gentiles in the audience) and the chance to get out for the evening was very welcome indeed.
