I've mentioned before about the local obsession with weather related statistics. Well, yesterday, on March 1st the evening weather forecast included total snow accumulation for March this year (1.6 inches) and even pointed out that this meant that this was 1.2 inches over the average for that point in March.
There is increasing talk of Spring - and of course the obligatory 'only three weeks to go to the official start of Spring', however all this 'official' talk seems to have gone to their heads - that same weather forecast stated (not once but twice - to prove it was not a slip of the tongue) that we had just had the 'first official day of March'. Glad to know it's official. Of course British people are not immune to officialitis - I always loved Tess Daly on Strictly Come Dancing announcing each week "The phone lines are now officially closed." So - they've been closed for some time, but now it's official - or maybe they're still actually open, but officially closed? Actually bearing in mind all the bad press about UK TV phone-ins last year, she might have been right after all.
For most of the day I was feeling surprisingly human, and we spent part of it making this mountain. Not just for climbing, nor for sledding this time. I will reveal its secret purpose another day. Early this evening we made it to our church gathering, although towards the end I suddenly felt like it was 9 am and I had been up all night. Exile #2 drove us home. Hopefully a long day of sleep will sort me out.
