Day 2.358: Inside and out

The last few days have seen us stuck inside a fair amount. It's been snowing almost constantly and very cold and windy. It has got us back into some good indoor activities. A few days ago, we played Uno - four of us anyway - and missed lunch because we were having too much fun to stop. We realised at one point that E5N1 was being suspiciously quiet and found him sitting behind a sofa cushion eating his way through the bag of Jelly Babies that had been hidden inside one of his Christmas presents.

Yesterday, E5N1 wanted to build with Magnatiles, so we built this very satisfying triangle-hexagon-flower tower. He didn't need my help to knock it down.

We've also been having bedtime stories by the fire most evenings. We moved on from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe but have now returned to 'Harry' - for the fourth in the series. Maybe the end of this one will be scary enough to discourage them from badgering us to continue. If not, I think we will need to have hearts of stone for a year or two at least.

Anyway, although it still extremely cold (15 °F or -9 °C with the wind-chill making it feel below 0 °F) and snowing and the roads were unpleasant, the girls and I managed to make our way to the church gathering which was a great time of looking back and looking forward to mark the New Year. E5N1 is a bit under the weather with a cold and not much fun to be with at times - maybe that's partly why Exile #2 managed to shake off her own cold enough to shovel the snow from the driveway while we were out!

It's back to work and school tomorrow and the alarm is set for the first time in a while. It will be a bit of a shock the system!
